Updated December 22, 2020

On Friday we tested all residents and can now report that there are no new cases. We continue to have 6 residents who have tested positive. All 6 are doing well and have none or mild symptoms. Sadly there are currently 36 long term care facilities in the Edmonton zone on Covid-19 outbreak and 41 supportive living facilities. We are pleased to learn that Alberta Health Services are currently testing a rapid testing process and expect to make further announcements soon.

Updated December 17, 2020

Unfortunately we have recorded 6 residents who have tested positive for Covid-19 excluding 1 resident who has recovered. All appropriate protocols are being followed. We also have 2 staff members who are positive and 7 who have recovered. Our staff continue to work hard through these challenging times with the assistance of Alberta Health Services as the Edmonton zone experiences a huge rise in outbreaks in long term care and supportive living facilities.

Updated December 14, 2020

Since the pandemic started we have had 1 resident test positive for Covid-19 and few staff who contacted the virus in the community with 1 possible transmission internally. Currently there are no residents who have tested positive for Covid-19. There are 2 staff who have tested positive. We continue to test residents and staff as a cautionary measure.

December 6, 2020

On Wednesday December 2nd Citadel Care Centre swabbed all residents and staff for COVID-19 due to the site identifying one staff member who tested positive due to contacting the virus in the community. All resident swabs have come back negative, with the exception of 2 straggling swab results. One staff memberís swab came back positive. This person does not have any symptoms and therefore was at work this week, as scheduled. They received their surprising positive result today and are now self-isolating. While the risk of an asymptomatic person transmitting the virus to others is considered low, we are erring on the side of caution and have put all residents in the areas this person worked on isolation precautions. We have also put all social visits on hold for the time being and will reassess shortly.

Currently there  are 6 acute care facilities in the Edmonton zone on outbreak, 30 long term care facilities and 30 supportive living facilities. We want to extend out thanks for your past and continued support as we work through this.
